Customers, be aware of sticker tuned ECU!!

We regret to inform you that there is fraud prevalent in the ECU tuning business.

On numerous occasions, we have received ECUs which were supposedly Flash reprogrammed by another company. The owners of these ECUs complained that they had found no difference in performance and were very disappointed.

When we analyzed the ECU program, we found in fact that there was no difference in the program from that of a factory installed ECU. In another words, the ECU was completely stock. All the customer received for their several hundred dollars was a nice little sticker on their ECU!
Since you can't physically see the changes made to the data on a Flash type ECU, customers must be very careful about what they are getting.

We would like to suggest a few tips for those out shopping for an upgrade on their Flash type ECUs. Prior to committing to your purchase of an ECU flash upgrade, do your homework and contact the company directly (if possible, to the programmer him/herself) to ask questions. Request the resetting of REV limiter or Speed limiter, idle adjustment, and throttle adjustment - items you can easily confirm yourself after you get your ECU back. (For VQ35DE owners, REV adjustment is particularly evident, since you hit it too often with that rev-happy motor!) If the tuning company refuses to change those settings, this is a red flag and you should be wary. If the company promises to change those setting, be sure to confirm the changes were in fact made as soon as you get your ECU back from them.

There are companies offering ECU flash upgrades considerably cheaper than we do, but ECU tuning requires substantial R&D time and money. Keep in mind, the ECU is the brain of the engine. If you don't tune it right, it could cause engine trouble and/or damage, and that is a big responsibility for the tuning company.
This is comparable to a medical situation. If you needed brain surgery, would you jump up on the table for the first surgeon who offered the cheapest price? We hope not!

It is often said, "You get what you pay for." But still, paying hundreds of dollars for a little sticker in never worth the price ... unless its solid gold and studded with diamonds!
