Drive By Wire

What is the Drive By Wire?

'Drive by wire' is the new technological term for how much the throttle body open or closes when you step on your accelerator pedal. In the old days, throttle opening and closing is control by a cable wire that is hooked up to your accelerator pedal. With the new technology, everything is control electronically. On stock** Nissan's 'Drive by wire' setup, after 5500 rpm, the throttle flap starts to close and blocks off air flow. This will still occur even if your foot is smashed down on the accelerator pedal. They do this to reduce horsepower and torque giving you the feeling that the car is no longer making power causing you to lift off the throttle and shift before reaching the rev limiter.
